Valentines Day

Today the whole world is celebrating this Saint Valentines Day specially those couples and married couples, but did you know the story behind this day?

In Rome, Saint Valentine was a priest who persecuted and interrogated by Roman Emperor Claudius II. Why? Its because, Emperor Claudius II ordered that all the young men must remain single because Emperor Claudius II wanted to raised an army by this young men, believing that married men will not make it to be a good soldier. The priest Valentine performed secret marriage ceremonies for the lovers. When Emperor Claudius II found out, priest Valentine actions, Emperor Claudius II ordered that priest Valentine should put into death.

In modern story they added that on the evening before Valentine to be executed, he had wrote the first valentine  card himself addressed to a jailer's daughter - who visited him before his execution, he wrote her a letter noted "from your valentine" an expression that still visible to the letters today. The stories certainly emphasizing his appeal as a heroic and most of all a romantic figure. Saint Valentine is one of the most popular saints in England
